Jordan Richardson

Head Coach

I have often wondered how I ended up doing this job but on reflection, my favourite time of the school year was when they let us stay off for six/seven weeks of the summer so it makes sense that I’d end up doing it as a job. I was very fortunate to grow up next to other kids who loved sports and playing games as much as I did. We would meet on the grassy area outside and just play whatever game or sport that took our fancy, including playing cricket with a real cricket bat and ball aged 9/10! haha …we would frequently make up our own games with their own set of rules and spend all summer perfecting it. My role at NextGen is to manage the sports camps, which means I get to see all the children and coaches every week. I love watching our coaches use their imagination to make the children’s school holidays as enjoyable as possible.

When I’m not working I like to travel around Europe, read about history, and catch up with friends. I maintain a non-work, sporting interest in coaching & watching adult football. I’m also interested in horse racing, and American collegiate sports (basketball & college football). I also volunteer time to act as Vice-Chair at Gosforth Bohemians FC, the oldest amateur football club in Newcastle.

In my past life, I was an Associate Lecturer/Demonstrator at Northumbria University. Prior to this, I gained an undergraduate degree from Northumbria University in Sports Development with Coaching before going on to achieve a Masters degree in International Sports Management.
